Bastiaan Vandendriessche immediately put himself on the map with his graduation project De fuut (Zuidpool 2017). This controversial portrait of a scout leader who tests the limits of his desires and imagination won the Amsterdam Fringe Award for best international performance. The thin line between reality and fiction was also evident in his following plays, A white man's burden (2018) and Mockingbird (2019). With Ode aan Buldegart (Zuidpool, 2019) he wrote and performed an absurd-romantic fairy tale. This script was nominated for the Toneelschrijfprijs 2020, an award for plays written in Dutch. Besides appearing in his own creations, he often can be seen in the work of Ontroerend Goed.
