Carly Rae Heathcote

Carly Rae Heathcote (b. 1995, US) is currently completing her Master’s in Drama at the School of Arts|KASK Ghent. Her practice lies at a crux between visual arts and theatre, centring around mirage and mysticisms as both a place of deception and an act of enchantment. She is interested in exploring works that generate doubt by stretching and deforming narratives and textures, to create worlds that toggle between sense and nonsense.

Recently she has worked designing for Indoor Weather by Bosse Provost and Ezra Veldhuis (Toneelhuis), for A MA ZON EN by Marijn Graven (Festival Cement and Het Zuidelijk Toneel), and for Bartlebabe by Anna Franziska Jäger and Nathan Ooms (CAMPO). Last year she co-created her first theatre script and audio score, It’s Alive!, together with Jonas Baeke and Mats Vandroogenbroek.

Previously she earned a Foundation Diploma in Performance Design and Practice from Central Saint Martins, London, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts, Costume Design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp.
