Kim Karssen & Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe

Kim Karssen (b. 1996) is a theatre maker and actor who tackles grand themes in a grotesque and playful manner in her shows. With a love of language and stories and a broad repertory of characters and mimetics, she searches for a balance between laughter and tears in an imaginative and sensitive way. In doing so, she does not shy away from sensitive subjects and likes to go off the deep end. Kim previously made the productions Love Story and Het Sterven (with Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe), Bloomsbury, Oorlog en Vrede (nominated for the BNG Theatre Award 2021 and presented at LafS#4), Mephisto Park (with Florian Myjer) and Kier 4+ (with Hendrik Kegels). She also works regularly with De Warme Winkel (for example, De Warme Winkel Speelt De Warme Winkel and Vincent Rietveld Gaat Voor De Louis D'Or).

Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe (b. 1995) graduated from the Toneelacademie Maastricht in 2018 with his production The Ballet, made together with Emiel Vandenberghe. Since 2018 he has worked as a director in the worlds of music and theatre and attracted attention for the way he brings different art forms together. He made the music productions My Inner Songs and My Protest with Laurens Mariën, Het sterven with Kim Karssen and The Ballet, with Emiel Vandenberghe. He was also a guest in productions by Gregory Frateur, Jan Decorte and Sigrid Vinks. In 2019, he created Ballet de la Nuit, which premiered at the Bourlaschouwburg. In 2021, he directed the spectacular A Revue, ‘a retro futuristic ballet’.
