Maxime Dreesen (b. 1996) graduated as a director from the Toneelacademie Maastricht in 2019. In his work, he aims for honesty and authenticity, which can lead to realism and concreteness but also to absurdism and the grotesque. With Hartstuk in 2018, he created the first part of a queer-coming-of-age trilogy that seeks the essence of the theatrical medium: creating magic only with words, voices and bodies in a bare space. Failure of Sex and Break Free followed in 2019.
