Stellar Legions & Compagnie Aira

Fresh, contemporary and one big free-wheeling adventure – that’s STELLAR LEGIONS. Coming from jazz, hip-hop, dub, electro, dance, and many other genres, this new collective unites the adventure and improvisation of jazz with contemporary sounds. They meet in live improvisations on themes and arrangements that may or may not have been agreed upon. Their sound can be defined as a semi-electronic ecstatic dream world in which anything goes. With pumping grooves, ethereal synths, jazzy chord progressions and catchy melodies, they stir up the audience, get people laughing and dancing. Their concerts feel like a trip through different musical worlds taking you to an indeterminate but definitely extra-terrestrial place.

The members of the band are saxophonist Andrew Claes (STUFF, BRZZVLL, Dez Mona…), keyboard player Bram Weijters (Raymond Van Het Groenewoud, Mauro Pawlowski, Dez Mona, Piet Verbist Quartet, Jelle Van Giel Group…), drummer Klaas De Somer (Eefje De Visser, Tourist Lemc, Pomrad, J. Bernardt, Faces On TV…) and contrabassist Fre Madou (DAAU, Gwen Taylor Trio, The Jacquelines, Namid, The Golden Glows…).

Zoë Demoustier (b. 1995) is a dancer and theatre-maker/choreographer. She started her artistic journey in 2012 in the production Dreams have laces by Kabinet K and fABULEUS.
