Gerben Vaillant

Gerben Vaillant (b. 1994) is an interdisciplinary performance maker. During his studies at the mime school (AHK), he developed a fascination for creating performances that focus on the distance between people and reality, where they fail to be (part of) a whole. As sensitive as he is radical, Gerben works with different forms: text, dance, image, philosophy, trash – it can always turn into anything at all, but is often atmospheric and at times is intrinsically confusing. Ultimately, he hopes to contribute to a representation of reality that resonates with people in a better way.

Gerben regularly works with composer and sound-designer Timon Persoon. As a result of their intensive collaboration, music and image take each other to greater heights. Together, they are building an almost cinematic universe, which keeps growing with each production. They additionally link their individual productions and musical compositions to each other.

Gerben presented his preliminary research project, Things When They're Gone, during Beginnings in 2021. He went on to develop it into the Frascati Production The Other Everything in 2022. His show called A Sense of an Ending premiered in April 2023. On Almost Every Page, his latest show made in collaboration with Frascati Productions, had its premiere in February 2024.
