In Another Sacre, twelve dancers move in their very own ways to the sound of Stravinsky’s famous composition Le Sacre du Printemps. They dance with one goal: to vibrate together. After a year of mental and physical imprisonment, Alain Platel and Bérengère Bodin invited them to throw themselves into guilty pleasures from their own dance histories, such as house, crump, tango, ballet, folklore… and unleash them onto the music.
Le Sacre has already been presented in so many versions throughout its history, which is all the more reason why it’s interesting to wonder whether this could be the contemporary reading of it. A version in which today’s generation is allowed to incorporate everything that has nurtured their love of dance, including the things they thought they had to unlearn.
