Bobby (here for you)

Romy Louise Lauwers

The world is too intense for Bobby, the barrage of information overwhelming, human interaction daunting. She lives alone in her apartment and no longer goes out. She talks to herself, looks out of the window and spends hours at her computer.

BOBBY H̶e̶r̶e̶ f̶o̶r̶ y̶o̶u̶ is a portrait of the inner world of this modern-day recluse facing the big challenges of the 21st century.

We are living at a time and in a society in which we increasingly hide behind screens amidst our growing fear of terror, climate change and war. For an ever-increasing number of people, this fearfulness takes the form of self-inflicted isolation. We turn our backs on the real world and replace it with what feels like a safe microcosmos.

How do we live together? How do we take care of ourselves when as a society we seem unable or unwilling to care for each other and our world? As a seer behind her window, Bobby senses the end of that world.
