We frequently discuss intergenerational trauma—but could there be more to this? Why limit intergenerationality to pain alone? If memories of trauma remain encoded in our bodies across generations, could there also be intergenerational solace that gets passed down?

Is a single lifetime enough to become whole again? Yes. In a thunderous monologue that draws from Aya Sabi’s novel Half Leven, the personal and the universal intersect. The book traces a family chronicle spanning three generations of women, weaving themes of connection and alienation.

We follow Shams as she contemplates life’s big questions—and as she simply buys a scarf. We must touch the pain—but also move beyond it. Intergenerational solace: an inherited sense of safety and trust.
